When Mike Brown decided to bench Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum he took a lot of heat. People were saying that his superstars deserve more respect. I’m happy Mike Brown benched his superstars, this is what makes a great coach in m opinion. He benched them because they weren’t making their shots and taking ill-advised shots! And we get mad at him for that?!!! For a team to be successful you have to set boundaries and let players know that no matter who you are you have to be held accountable for your actions. Earlier this season coach Thibs of the Chicago Bulls benched all his starts because of poor performance and lack of effort. Just because the Lakers have a different coach doesn’t mean that they can run over him. Kobe surprisingly handled it well when discussing it with the media, and Andrew Bynum continues to display that he lacks maturity and the ability to be professional when things don’t go his way. To openly defy your coach in the media is beyond disrespectful; grow up dude! In my book Mike Brown finally showed who’s boss, and I applaud him for that.
