Maybe the Lakers Just aren’t that good,

The Lakers got blown out by 29 points last night by the OKC Thunder, continuing this strange season of the most storied franchised in NBA history. All year analysts, fans, and even players have been trying to figure out what this Lakers’ team is. One minute they look like NBA Champs the next minute they’re getting blown out by 30 in a playoff game.  But maybe it’s time to realize that the Lakers’ maybe just aren’t that good. The Lakers franchise has enjoyed so much success over so many years that maybe its difficult for people to realize they just aren’t better than the OKC Thunder.  Of course, the Lakers still have one of the greatest players in NBA history in Kobe Bryant, and two 7footers Bynum and Gasol that can get you 20-10 each night. But the Thunder just have more weapons they are flat-out better than the Lakers. Kobe and this group can not match up with the Thunder. Lakers fans need to realize that it isn’t a right to win championships every year because you are the Lakers.  I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it looks like the Lakers run will end vs. the Kevin Duran, Russell Westbrook, and the OKC Thunder. And you know what Laker fans that’s ok welcome to regular expectations of normal NBA fans.

Why Chris Paul deserves to be an MVP.

Chris Paul proved to yesterday that he should be the MVP of the league this year, after a sensational performance beating the Memphis Grizzlies in overtime last night. LeBron will end up winning his third MVP and he has had a statistical season for the records. But Chris Paul has done more with less he has won in spite of the bland coaching of Vinny Del Negro, Chauncey Billups season ending injury, and playing with a bunch of NBA journeymen and other players that never quite reached their potential. But what Paul has done changing the image and attitude of the Clippers is remarkable. The fact that one player can bring a team with a tradition of losing  to on the brink of a second round playoff birth for only the second time in 35 years should be applauded.  I would be a damn shame is Paul never wins an MVP if there is a player out there that deserves it, its him.  Steve Nash pulled down two MVP trophies I think its time to give Paul his award.

Mike Brown: I Gets not Respect

Phil Jackson is the greatest coach in the NBA history, so Mike Brown is nearly had an impossible job replacing the coaching legend.   It is surprising and down right disrespectful when analyst tap Mike Brown as a substitute teacher or a defensive coordinator, Mike Brown has been on a NBA coaching staff for nearly 20 years!!!!!! He was a long time assistant of Gregg Popovich in San Antonio- this is not his first time at the Rodeo. Whether people like it or not Mike Brown is the head coach of the L.A. Lakers he has every right to bench Andrew Bynum when he’s taking 3′s or when he’s getting outplayed by Jordan Hill.  I don’t  ever remember a coach being so questioned for making coaching decisions more than Brown. Andrew Bynum was an All-Star this year, granted he’s finally healthy  but Brown does deserve some credit for finally harnessing that talent into being a productive player. Brown has the Lakers with a roster that includes Josh McRoberts and Troy Murphy as the #3 team in the West, with a legit shot to make it to the Finals!! Its time to give Mike Brown some credit its Time!!!!! Mike Brown is not Phil Jackson but neither are the other 29 coaches in the NBA.

Lamar Odom: The non Motherf*ckin Factor

Lamar Odom in the famous word of “Basketball Wife” Evelyn Lozanda Odom has been a non motherf*ckin factor this entire season. Against the Lakers put up 1pt, 1reb, and 1asst game in 24 mins. Yea folks, a 1,1,1 game. Kobe Bryant said after the game that fans were idiots for booing Lamar Odom, No Kobe Odom looks like the idiot now-he went from being the six man of the year-to being a burden to the Dallas Mavericks. I always think that people especially athletes better not mess up their money, and Lamar Odom is definitely messing up his  money he’s 32, in the last year of a deal, and coming off his worst season as a professional.  You think Khole Kardashian is going to hang around with a washed up basketball player, Lamar Odom needs to get it together stat. Hopefully, he can help the Mavericks during their playoff run, because right now he’s looking more like a troubled reality star than a basketball player.

Magic Johnson’s-The Announcement-Did the HIV Announcement overshadow his greatness?

After watching Magic Johnson’s -The Announcement I almost forgot how good of a basketball player Magic really was.  I was only about 4 years old when Magic retired so I never really experienced Magic’s game first-hand.  But I think with the combination of Magic being a spokesperson for HIV, his successful business dealings, and with Kobe being Mr. Laker now. It is crazy to think that beyond all that Magic Johnson is arguably the best basketball player to ever play. It’s hard to knock Jordan off of that number 1 spot, but a strong case could be made Magic and his impact on the game. Would love to hear what other sports fans feel about Magic’s place in history.

Is it time for Kobe and the Lakers to get over it?

Last night after getting blown out by the lowly Phoenix Suns Kobe Bryant went on a rant about how management should either trade Pau Gasol or let him know he is staying with the Lakers. Here’s the deal though the Lakers management does not have to and will not tell Pau Gasol anything.  I’m sick of the excuses with Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol about how the trade that didn’t happen is affecting their play.  Gasol has still got to play, he can’t be soft if he would’ve shown up in the playoffs last year than maybe he wouldn’t be the talk of trade rumors now. I completely understand not feeling like the organization is a 100% behind, but at some point you have to start playing for yourself. You have to have another personal pride to say I’m going to play my best no matter what. The strange thing is Gasol is having a good season avg. 16pts and 10 rebs, so maybe if Kobe gave Gasol the ball a little more in crunch time Gasol would be a happy camper. Gasol also has got to be more aggressive calling for the ball demanding the ball from Kobe in those situations.  Mike Brown as a coach has got get this team to play together, I still feel like Kobe is running the team.  I do think Brown is a really good coach, but this team with two skilled seven footers has got to be better than this.  So Kobe and the Lakers have got to get over it the trade the did not happen, play with the guys you got this team is good enough to win, they are not as far away as many think.

Why are people trying to count out Kobe?

I am a self-proclaimed Kobe hater. But my hate for Kobe comes from his public persona-when he first came into the league Kobe tried to hide the fact that he was an ass. Kobe tried to put on this nice guy personality; he tried too hard to be the new Magic Johnson type of guy when that wasn’t him. But as Kobe has gotten older he has embraced his sort f*ck everybody persona. However, even with all my Kobe hate I never ever disrespected Kobe’s game, I never disrespected his win at all cost competitive spirit. So why is everybody surprised that Kobe is playing well at 33. I know Kobe’s been in the league 16 years, and his 33 year old legs have a lot of mileage, but people are forgetting this is Kobe Bryant!!!!!!!!! When did 33 become 63, he’s not going to be eating chocolate pudding in a nursing home anytime soon. Did people forget that Kobe plays best when people doubt him? People are pick the Clippers over the Lakers you think Kobe doesn’t hear that, his wife filed for divorce you don’t think Kobe hears the whispers, you bet Kobe has heard about the ESPN Poll ranked him 7TH BEST player in the league-so stop it people stop trying to say Kobe’s done because he’s not. You can never ever be surprised about what Kobe can do; at the end of the day you don’t think Kobe could still win MVP this year. I’ve been on record as saying he’s breaking his 81pt game this year. Kobe will be playing at this level for these many years to come so I hope people learn stop doubting Kobe.

Stern has ruined the NBA again.

David Stern’s latest power move to block Chris Paul from going to the Lakers has assured that the Lakers and Heat will be in the finals for the years to come. Stern has effectively alienated enough players in the league, that they will all be flying to and using their power to go wherever they want to go. The Lakers will get Chris Paul one way or another, and with a trade the Hornets would have at least gotten something back and be somewhat competitive team.

What makes no sense about Stern’s better for the league argument is that Chris Paul is a FREE AGENT after this season, does he not understand that Paul is leaving anyway. I can’t believe he would justify keeping Paul for 66 games just not to piss off Dan Gilbert seriously? There has NEVER been competitive balance in NBA history. The great Phil Jackson was in 13 of the last 20 finals!!!! There have always been dynasties it is what makes the NBA great, you think people want to see a Bucks/ Grizzlies finals???? Does Stern not know that superstars and super teams are what’s good for the league? This 2010/2011 was one of the best seasons the leagues has had in years and it was because the Heat were a super team.

Early in the lookout people jumped on Bryant Gumble for saying that Stern was a plantation owner, this latest move of making Paul stay in his place does help remove that image. Also Stern works for the owners who are really behind this whole thing anyway, Cleveland Cavilers owner Dan Gilbert is turning into one of the worst people in competitive sports calling the trade a ‘travesty.’ Was it not a travesty when you were trying to work out a trade for Amare? His absolute ridiculousness is just laughable at this point; instead of developing Kyrie Irving he’s worried about the Lakers? Owners in the same mind frame as Gilbert should worry about creating teams around the players they have to be competitive no one wanted to come to Dallas, but Cuban changed that with his attitude and the moves that he made. I believe that blocking this trade has done more damage than the NBA lockout, and it’s a shame that this has to tarnish the NBA season.
