BREAKING: Junior Seau has passed away

The San Diego Chargers have confirmed that Junior Seau has died there have been reports that his death was suicide I pray for his family and friends. I hope NFL and NFLPA can at least come together for post retirement mental health help. Too many retired players are losing their lives.

Super Bowl Reaction!!

My Superbowl prediction was wrong, and I’m so happy it was.  As a self-proclaimed die-hard Patriot hater, and it was soooooo good to see them lose. If there is one Patriot my heart broke for it was team owner Robert Kraft who dedicated this season to his late wife.  Seeing him after the Hail Mary was deflected standing in that room alone was tear jerking, Kraft seems like a genuinely nice guy and just hope he and his family don’t take the lost too hard.  There are many questions left to be answered. Here are a couple of questions and observations that will be debated for the 7 months until the next meaningful football game is playing.

Is Tom Brady Overrated?: I don’t think he is overrated, he is still a first ballot Hall of Famer, and I don’t think this one game will change any of that.  It probably just make him hungrier.

The Patriots haven’t won a Superbowl since Spy-Gate.:  In the early and mid-2000′s it looked like nobody, I mean nobody was going to stop the Patriots. They had won 3 out of the last 4 Superbowls and since then they have not won Superbowl in nearly a decade.

The Bradshaw TD?: I don’t hate the TD like everybody else, I would’ve taken more time off the clock of course, but I rather be up by 4 than one.  Who knows what would’ve happen with a kick or another snap. So taking the TD and trust your D.

Gronk was Hurt: I was a little surprised about how gingerly Gronk was playing on that ankle. Throughout the whole week I really thought Gronk was going ok and be effective he was just opposite it really cost the Pats the game in my opinion.

Eli is Elite: Eli deserved his second MVP, he was lights out absolutely amazing in this game. No turnovers, cool, calm, and collected throughout the entire game.  Even when the Patriots scored 17 unanswered points. Eli did not get rattled, didn’t try to do too much, and was clutch throughout the entire 4th quarter.  I was absolutely amazed by his quiet but great Superbowl performance.

Giselle hate Pats receivers: http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2012/02/06/gisele-rips-patriots-receivers-for-dropped-passes-after-super-bowl-loss-video/- just think this is hilarious Tom Brady’s wife goes in Pats receivers. This is particularly funny after email.

Sid the Kid: Should he play again?

Sidney Crosby has begun practicing again in hopes to return from a recurrence of conscious like symptoms. With so much known about concussions and their effects on long time life effects known.  I honestly don’t know if it is in Crosby best interest to return.  Of course, I’m not a doctor, but I just seems that Crosby must have a serious medical problem that has kept him out for the better part of two years. After reading this article about Hunter Hillenmeyer http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/28/hunter-hillenmeyer-battling-nfl-bears-for-900000/- I hope the NHL does have a policy like this if Crosby can’t go again.  I really hope that Crosby can back completely healthy, but I hope it is not at the expense of the his long term health.  Just like Brandon Roy I hate to see a career cut short, especially in the prime of one’s career.  But this is the tricky intersection where the thing you love the most-playing the game- becomes just that a game not worth your life.

The Jets have landed.

The Jets the last couple of years were loud, brash, and tough. Head coach Rex Ryan was boastful and everybody loved it. They never won pretty, but between the young QB in Sanchez, solid running game, and the tough defense the Jets looked like contenders for years to come. I don’t think anybody would’ve guessed that there season would have ended with a terrible lose to the lowly Miami Dolphins. The Jets didn’t make the playoffs for one simple reason, they’re a bunch of immature professionals, with a coach who displayed much of the immaturity himself. Ryan did his best talk up a group that had seen its better years. Lets face it Holmes, and Burress are not top -flight stretch the field type of receivers. The defense in famous Bart Scott words couldn’t stop a nose- bleed at times this season. Their running game wasn’t consistent, and boy o boy Sanchez regressed drastically. With all this being said this team could’ve pulled together some wins if they were united. But instead of building team unity, Rex is talking about how many Superbowls he would’ve won if coached the Chargers. During the big game against the Giants instead of focusing on his team Ryan starts yapping about how his team runs New York. Oh, and don’t forget when the Jets actually had a chance to take a division lead over New England Patriots Ryan is cussing out a fan. The team had absolutely no boundaries everyone was fighting to the main guy instead of winning games. This year was a long time coming this was bound to happen in order to get back to where they were it’s time to take a long look at who’s in the locker room. I really hope Peyton Manning stays miles and miles away from this Jets train wreck.

Whether you like it or not Tebow is here to stay!!

I thought today was the day, the day where Tim Tebow would fade into oblivion.  He would have another forgetful game, the Broncos would cut him and Tim Tebow would continue as back up quarterback somewhere else in the NFL.  But no, that just couldn’t happen.  I should’ve known everything was stacked up against him he had three bad games, his confidence seemed to be at an all time low, and the Steelers the heavily favored AFC champs were coming into town.  His 80 yard TD pass to Demaryius Thomas sealed another chapter in the Tebow story.  So I’m done, I am officially done trying to figure out, how and why this guy does what he does.  I’m just going to ride the wave.  I’m not going to overreact to this win or overreact to his loses, it just too much to emotionally go through every week.  So there is no more analyzing to be done, I’m just waiting on the next chapter of the Tebow story.

p.s. What kind of hat did Big Ben have on in his press conference?

Wild Card Sunday!

Thanks Bengals and Lions for making me look like damn fool! But anyway here are the previews for tomorrow’s game. There’s no way in hell Tebow should beat the Steelers. I think the Steelers will win and I hope they do because if they don’t we will never hear the end of Tebow. Now on to the Giants vs Falcons game this game is such a pick’em game but I’m going with Giants I like the run their on. So the playoffs are off to a non surprising start.

Wild Card Saturday!!!!

Tomorrow the playoffs began!!!! I hate to say this but the least interesting match up of the tomorrow’s game has to be the Bengals vs. Texans game. Neither one of these teams has a chance of make a deep run in the playoffs so who ever wins this game is just waiting to lose next week. Between these two teams, the Bengals have a better chance because they are healthy and the Texans are not. With Andre Johnson not really being a 100% and TJ Yates with a non throwing shoulder injury its too much for the Texans to over come and if Jake Delhomme has to come in this game, you can guarantee that a sack/fumble will be occurring. So by default the Bengals win this game in a low scoring defensive battle.

Next are the Saints and the Lions. This game is going to be crazy mark my words, I know Saints killed the Lions last time, but Suh wasn’t playing and the Lions basically imploded with penalty after penalty. But one thing that the Lions don’t lack is confidence. I’m going to take a surprising upset here and pick the Lions. The Saints are hotter than fire right now, but I just like the Lions here there absolutely no pressure and Saints are now the favorites to come out of the NFC. It’ll be interesting to see how both these match shake out.

Bears and Colts say goodbye to their GM’s!!

Bill Polian and Jerry Angelo are both out of jobs.  These long time GMs both lead their teams to at least one Superbowl even meeting in the 2007.  The Colts even made another Superbowl appearence in 2010.  But as we know with the NFL there is no time for losing.  What ultimately cost both GMs there jobs was there inability to find solid back up veteran quarterbacks.  If the Colts could have just found that one guy to make at least look competitive Polian would still have his job.  If Bears could’ve seen that Caleb Haine was not ready for the moment and found someone else they would probably be in the playoffs right now. But because they missed and they missed big they got a pink slip. But should QB injuries cost these GM’s their jobs?

The Angelo firing is somewhat expected there have been rumblings in the Bears organziation for years that Angelo was on his way out.  There was even talk of him possibly retiring this year, so his firing was somewhat of a surprise. Angelo’s stubborness to refuse to get a number one reciever to help out Cutler is one of the reason why this team was held back so much.  While, I think Martz’s offense was better than what they had before, the trade of Greg Olsen made no sense. Kellen Davis can’t catch a cold.  These limited offense weapons made the Bears very reliant on Cutler who covered up a lot of flaws and when he went down they went down.  Angelo also missed on signing Forte, I know there was deal in place, but you have to get that done because the now the Bears either see Forte walk or overpay him.  Decisions like this are fireable and lets just say the Sam Hurd situation didn’t help. Hopefully, the new GM that comes in  for the Bears sees the potential that this team has and gets them to where they need to be.

Now on to Polian this one hurts more than Angelo firing because Polian was completely blindsided, utterly shocked. Two years ago he had won the AFC championship and now he’s out of a job.  I know the Colts had an awful season starting 0-13 doesn’t help, but the Colts should have gave Polian one more year especially with the number 1 pick.  There is no one on this earth that thought Manning wasn’t playing this season. It was almost a forgone conclusion that Manning would break Farve consecutive start record. Suffice say no team, no GM would be prepared for a season without Manning.  By firing Polian it shows that Colts have to move Manning.  Manning by accounts is really pissed off at the fact Polian was fired, he was talking to him minutes before about a rehab schedule. While, Manning will always be professional one can safely assume that he feels undermined by the organization and if they can do that to Polian, just think what they’ll do to him. But maybe the Colts want to move on and just start a new era if they do they must get rid of Manning.

Both these GMs shouldn’t be bashed throughout there tenures that created some great teams, but unfortunately most recent history is the only that often matters.
